“I’m sort of a political guy, he’s a broadcaster.”

TVNewser talks to Phil Griffin about Our Mr. Olbermann anchoring the RNC from New York:

Griffin and Olbermann were at the Chicago Cubs game Saturday, separately. Olbermann also went to Sunday’s game and, during a morning email exchange, Griffin suggested Olbermann should go back to New York, instead of on to St. Paul. Olbermann responded “Seriously?”

Oh, Keith! You went to Wrigley and didn’t invite me? Humph!

So Griffin tells KO that he doesn’t have to work outdoors, shouting over crowds, living out of a suitcase for a week but can stay at home and play traffic cop from the comfort of the studio? Yeah. Like he wouldn’t take that offer!

TVN also spoke with Tweety on the subject:

“He’s a very strongly predictable person in the way of his professionalism. I’m uneven and, what’s the right word, flamboyant and impulsive.”

“You gotta watch it. Don’t you see that we get along? Forget the scuttle, don’t you see how we get along? I think it’s pretty obvious we get along.”

Yes, Chris. Every time I see you two work in the studio it appears that you get along just fine. When you snapped at Keith for trying to wrap things up last week you were just being flamboyant and impulsive while he was being predictably professional.

If you cannot beat them, blame the media. The GOP is resurrecting its ol’ saw that “the media” is to blame for anything negative that oozes out on Palin. Did anyone hear those negative “NBC, NBC” boos when she mentioned media commentators during her speech. And one wonders why KO just might be happy enough to be assigned to his digs in NYC instead of St. Paul.

And the attacks on “community organizers” as folks who don’t not accomplish things. I guess she forgets these community organizers — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, Cesar Chevez, Dorothea Dix, Clara Barton, Gloria Steinem (or yeah…she’s not Palin’s type of “feminist” so okay Susan B. Anthony). I’d LOVE to see the Demos or a 570 group rebut that argument using a video of these “noncontributing” community organizers!!

Houstonian - That must have been the proudest moment of Bill-O’s life when they started chanting, “NBC.” That’s his audience, en masse.

One other question: Will Keith sneak out of the second floor of 1A long enough to head to 8G for halftime of the Redskins-Giants game tonight (9/4)?

Best thing they did was separate Keith and Tweety. Both are now in top form. Whoo, yay boys! Now I don’t have to mute everytime you guys are speaking.

I assume that we all know by now that Obama will be on Countdown Monday night.

(He is on with Bill-o tonight, but I am not sure I can stomach that, especially after the GOP CON has been frying my brains.)

I remember a song from my younger years that went “he’s here; he’s there; he’s everywhere, so beware!”

Matthews may be a fine fellow, but can anyone really listen to the screams? Olbermann is probably the best there is in broadcasting today. Maddow, I think, is a very close second. Morning Joe is nothing but a bad cup of coffee.

Pink Elephants on Parade, Dumbo, 1940 I assume?

Was it Pink Elephants on Parade? I realized that it is a song related to some cartoon?

But if it is Pink Elephants (and I didn’t see any when I wrote this) how fitting considering we’re discussing the GOP.

And speaking of ‘pink elephants” — I loved what Obama said when asked if Demos were being “sexist” for questioning Palin’s background…sorta said — she’s in the big leagues, she gets equal treatment!!

Here’s a Dumbo “Pink Elephants on Parade” clip:

Did anyone else notice that when MSNBC covered the DNC, they graphically used a blue donkey facing to the left and when they covered the RNC, they used a red elephant facing to the right.

Coincidence? I think NOT!

Checked the Pink Elephant video link…wasn’t the song I remember…which I think was from a Saturday morning cartoon show.

However, the Pink Elephants On Parade video did remind me of the GOP convention — just as scary and totally absurd.

Actually the phrase “He’s everywhere! He’s everywhere!” reminds me more of the Ray Stevens song “Santa Claus Is Watching You.”
