Jesus, Joe, Get a Shovel: DNC Open Thread

Blogger Lounge
A big thank you goes out to Friend of ERT Blue Gal for the shoutout on C&L this morning!

Will KO say something else inappropriate on an open mic? Will the PUMAs be given even more disproportionate analysis? Will Crazy Uncle Pat drive Rachel over the edge? And what kinds of interesting things will the Denver wind do to Keith’s hair?

You know, I was pissed that Keith said that to Joey until I heard Joey being an ass to David S. on Morning Joe. I am so livid at Joe for myriad reasons. I’m really glad other folk are getting angry with him too, but I think all the MSNBC folk need to take a chill pill. This is the DNC! It’s supposed to be a big ol’ love-in! Break out the cocktails and hugs, you guys!

Also, the Lucy Mum is constantly complaining about how distracting Keith’s hair is. Tweety’s blows in the wind (and can we get a whoop-whoop for Tweety becoming kind of awesome?) while Keith’s is a rock. It’s lolarious.

No way, no how, no McCain!

I knew my girl would do good.

Yes, Hillary made up for all the bad things I said about her after all the bad things she said about Obama.

Hillary was awesome, almost as good as Kucinich.

I thought KO’s candid mic moment was a bit unprofessional. He should have realized his mic was opened (or could be opened), covered it, or slipped Tweety a note.

That said, I totally agree with Lucy — I heard a bleep of Joey being a jerk with “Shuster” as he kept calling him. What a cockroach.

I’d love to know the hair stuff KO uses. Houston humidity makes my hair look like Medusa’s, no matter what goop I slather on it!
Denver’s rather dry climate is great for my locks!

I wonder if Keith really didn’t know that his mike was open. Our boy does like to stir the pot.

Everyone grumbles about their co-workers, but I strongly feel JS has been earning the remark for quite some time.

Houstonian, try this if you’re looking for super hold:

I love the little things that weave it all together. More subtle perhaps than what the shovel was required to, well, shovel.

The first time I heard the short video bio of Hillary I knew that the music behind the last section was familiar, but I was cooking and listening, not watching.

When it was repeated, I saw the train motif shown again at that point in the film and realized that the music that began then is the wonderful background music played in the series of ads for children’s literacy, with the boys and girls at the Harry Potter-like train station, clutching their books which are their passports for journeys to OZ, Hogwarts, Camelot, etc. What a great way to play the subliminals for the audience.

Leaving aside the implication that perhaps Hillary’s little girl’s dream is still in the “Fairy Tale” category…..

What is important is the dreaming because once on board wonderful adventures are had no matter what the outcome of the journey, and there will always be future trains for the dreamers.

It makes me wonder where the music came from originally.

We also have Shakespearean things going on from our Keith in the banner with his ass’s ears (Thank you, Becky, for making me think of Bottom in Midsummer’s Night Dream) and then Keith quoted from Hamlet, “and it must follow as the Night the Day”( from the Polonious speech to Laertes) although it seemed to go right past Chris Matthews, who at least does get shovel references.

Speaking of Shakespeare:
