Losing pets is so hard, and you never want to have to face facts when you know one of them is ill in a way that just isn't going to get any better. My younger dog has a virulent form of bone cancer that came out of nowhere and had totally obliterated the ulna in her foreleg before it was caught. The last test came in yesterday, and there is no hope. I am trying to keep her comfortable while knowing that I need to put her out of her misery. It has affected my reactions to the world of late. When my Dad was in his late 40's he developed exactly the same build Keith has, and he continued to swim, high dive, walk miles each day, and play tennis until he was killed at age 73. Dave is on a riser, probably around 10-12" or so high. Yet, the top of his head is only an inch or two above Keith's. My "little" brother is 6'4", just like Keith.
