Tie: Baby Blue
Segue: The music from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. A different Mr. Rogers sawed a house in half to make the song relevant.
Worst Person in the World: Billo, for criticizing Columbia University for inviting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak there, then inviting Ahmadinejad to come on to his own show.
National intelligence director Mike McConnell tried to scare the Senate about terrorist threats, saying people would die if the FISA laws weren’t expanded. Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) comes on Countdown and says she found out that a piece of evidence used to suggest an attack on the U.S. capitol came from a source that wasn’t credible.
Oddball: Women dressed as ninjas robbed a gas station. Or as Keith said, watch for “two chain-smoking female ninjas scratching off lottery tickets with a samurai sword.” A white koala found in Australia was nursed back to health. The lawn mower racing championships happened in England. I can’t find the right video, but here’s a fun one. Countdown showed this video of a flying lawnmower.
In your Best Persons in the World of the segment, Keith defends Dana Perino and President Bush for his leaked phonetic speech he was going to give to the U.N. As Keith said, you can’t both make fun of Bush for not being able to pronounce words and bash him for trying to fix the problem.
Supporters of Rudy Giuliani are having a “$9.11 for Rudy” fundraiser. But it’s not like Giulani’s running as the 9/11 candidate. His campaign called it an “unfortunate choice”.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine made a must-see Larry Craig spin-off video to combat child obesity. Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for DUI. So does Jack Bauer still get to drive all over the place next season in 24?
What’s a Halo 3? A video game that is apparently going to make $150 million on the first day of its release. I’m not into most video games myself, but I’ve been told from video-game playing friends it could be the best video game this century. That was Countdown — it looks like the Keith to Dan Abrams segue will be permanent now.
