Countdown To The Big Show Edition

Dan Patrick’s farewell week on ESPN Radio is scheduled to start today! It should be a fabulous week of radio - tune in your local ESPN affiliate or listen to the streaming audio. If you can’t tune in, rest assured your ERT Action Sports Team will be bringing you a wrap-up of each day’s events.

Speaking of the ERT Action Sports Team, Stef reports that yesterday’s pre-season game on NBC did not feature the “occasionally provocative Keith Olbermann” though Mr. Costas did assure us that he would be on future broadcasts.

Talk amongst yourselves.

ETA @ 1:10pm: No Dan. We were promised a farewell week. A week. What do you wanna bet it’s just one day, Friday? If that?

Today Alfred Hitchcock was born:

Where is Dan? Maybe there will be just one last show on Friday? They had better not just be ushering him out without a goodbye.

Anyone know if Insider offers a refund!? >:(

I do like John Kruk though, and they are suggesting that he may be part of the permanent replacement. Still, I hope Dan gets his new show going soon.

As Becky reported, it was supposed to be all week. Perhaps it will just be the 2 o’clock hour. We should know soon…

Kim - he won’t be on at 2:00. These two opened the show by saying “give us three hours of your time”. I think Becky may be right, we will be lucky to get Friday.

Everything I read after DP was last on the ESPN airwaves stated his last broadcast was on August 17th, with no mention of a week-long broadcast. Here’s an example:

I sent an e-mail to EPSN Radio this morning asking if Friday will be the only day DP will be on. I doubt if anyone will even respond. I’m hoping we get Friday, at least. If I get an answer, I’ll let everyone know.

TOP STORY: Karl Rove is leaving the White House.

Guess now this means the he’ll tell all to Congress without “Execuitve Privledge” being invoked.

Good job Olberfann54321. If ESPN is blocking DP from coming on the radio, it’s a classless move by them. Dan Patrick is one of the reasons ESPN got so popular, and was there forever.

Olberfann, AOL Sports reported

But an ESPN spokesman tells me that the speculation is wrong, and that Patrick will be back for a “farewell week.”

Saying his final day is August 17 doesn’t negate any shows prior to that date.

My concern is that my source was USA Today, Becky, and yours was AOL Sports. There is nothing I could find on ESPN.com or ESPNradio.com regarding either the final week or even a final broadcast. A Google search proved fruitless as well. Why no offical announcement somewhere?

DP may have stated on air there was to be a final broadcast week and so may have an ESPN spokesman, but given the lack of DP being on today does not bode well in my book. It may be something he has no control over as well.

That’s why I sent an e-mail to ESPN Radio asking for information. Again, let me reiterate that I don’t think I will get a response from them.

OK, I feel a little better in that it appears I didn’t miss anything by missing the football. I will attend more cautiously from now on.

I too am confused over the Dan Patrick Farewell Week appearing to have been reduced to a Dan Patrick Farewell Day. Maybe. Or not.

As for Karl Rove, he doesn’t have to give me a farewell MINUTE.

Karl Rove will still evoke executive privilege to discuss his work with the president, just as Harriet Miers, who left sometime ago, has.

I find it interesting the Ken Starr, who was independent prosecutor for first the Clinton Whitewater and then Monicagate, forced Clinton’s Secret Service agents to testify, even though the SS cited possible security risks to the Prez (then and future) if the C-in-C was afraid to talk in their presence. They were overruled.

I guess it just depends who thinks what is more important…

Who thinks Turd Blossom won’t continue to advise the president after he leaves? Karen Hughes did. And then came back!

Oh, the Roveboy is like a bad penny, I know. He’ll keep turning up. It’ll be like the first Terminator movie…every time you think he’s finally done and gone, he’ll rise up again and keep going.
